MCI Top 11: Accounting Error or a TIE??

Discussion:  What do you think about MCI Top 11, was it an accounting error or was is a real TIE that TVB claimed?

Why would TVB staff not notify there would be a top 11 when they handed over the results?   Given the unusal situation, would it make sense to notify the hosts before the annoucement.  Instead they just said they that there was a tie....perhaps they put on the wrong stickers on the results....AGAIN!

Should TVB "freeze" Kate Tsui for her sex talk on RTHK?
Kate was recently invited on a radio show at RTHK, and the topic was about sex. TVB disapproved of her behavior on the radio show and might freeze her because she destroys her image of a TVB artists and more importantly the image of Miss Hong Kong. Do you think she should be punished for that?

Here's what I think:
First, I think TVB is being biased given the fact that there were two other TVB artists and a producer on the radio show, and the host herself is a TVB artist. If TVB has to punish, what about the other three guests who are also employees of TVB. I think TVB has a double standard regarding this issue.

Next, as for destroying the image of MHK...the image of MHK was destroyed long time ago when they decided to go out and sleep with rich married man, and how come that kind of behavior wasn't punished.

I don't think Kate went overboard on the show. RTHK is partly managed by the HK government and there are limits set by them, if the conversation is not appropriate, it would not be on the air and online viewing would not even be available. In addition, the purpose of the show is to provide listeners and viewers a positive side of sex. Also, the show is at midnight...which is intended for mature audiences.

MHK 05 had plastic surgeries? Fact or Rumor? and Score Sheets....
Looking at old pictures of Tracy Ip from the magazine, her face does look a bit different. A result of weight loss, could be... but her nose definitely look different to me, it's a lot smaller now. When you think more about it, the application never stated that plastic surgery is not allowed, back then when Chingmy was accused of having her chin done in 1987, TVB didn't ask her to leave, it was her who made the decision to leave. Had she stayed to participate in the finals, the final outcome would probably change.

Every year some kind of rumors just popped up right after the new MHK is crowned, this year is no different. Even the reigning Miss World admitted that she had a nose job, past Miss Universe such as Amelia Vega probably had something done, her face is just too perfect to be real.

Score sheets--this is most likely real scores from one of the judges during the first interview. Judges jotted down their English speaking skills on their and Natalie Khor scored a perfect 10 in that area, no wonder she got Miss International Goodwill! Even though Tracy's scores wasn't at the top, it doesn't mean she didn't do well in other areas. Winning Miss Charity award really boosted her scores I believe. Thank goodness she's not going to Miss Universe, otherwise those die hard Miss Universe fans like me would be really disappointed by her limited English speaking skills and her swimsuit presentation.

Comment on this year's pageant
Topic: Miss Universe
I thought the stage was amazing, one the best in history. I questioned Indonesia's placement in top 15. She wore a one piece, and had a bad gown choice, making the cut was definitely a suprise. Perhaps MUO would like them to come back again next year and show Indonesia that there's nothing wrong for women showing some skin in this day and age. Also, I think South Africa was so robbed, how could she place out of the top 10, Israel and South Africa should switch places.

Any thoughts?

MHK @ Miss World
Miss HK is no longer sending a representative to Miss World, do you think it's true? Do you think TVB really cares? I don't think so, with the recent budget cuts, I think it's a relief for TVB not to send anyone to international pageants, which costs them money, and we all know the outcome. Miss Hong Kong Pageant has now become a star search, rather than finding someone representing Hong Kong, so I don't think it would be a great loss if this rumor were true.

Old Times MHK Part 8
mainly pictures from 1988 and 1989, which one do you like the most?

Plastic surgeries in Miss USA Pageant, what do you think, should this be allowed? Which part of the body is okay to have surgeries. I think it's done to boost confidence, but at the same time, is it really necessary...

Miss USA 2004
I think this year's Miss USA Pageant is just okay, EXACTLY the same format as last year, not too many new things. Most of the top 15 are very deserving in my opinion, especially the swimsuit competition, the top 10 looked great except for Georgia. My favorite was Tennessee and Missouri, though I was leaning towards Tennessee. Tennessee's answers weren't good enough, but at least the winner is selected based on the whole package, not just looks. I couldn't believe Tennessee placed fifth, Oklahoma was even worse! Justin Timberlake in Miss USA, not a very good answer.

I think Shandi will do very well at the upcoming Miss Universe Pageant, probably top 5.

Any thoughts?

New poll and picture of the month
Miss USA Pageant is coming up very soon, so I decided to put something Miss USA related for pic of the month. I just do not have time to update anything lately, plus nothing much is going on during the MHk recruitment process.

As for the new poll, I think the costume designers and the hairstylists should be fired! They are constantly doing a terrible in recent pageants. Any thoughts?

Mandy Cho the most deserving MCI runner-up??
The last time I checked my poll, Mandy is the most deserving MCI runner-up (for now I hope). I think she's top 3 material, but the most deserving?? Her performance that night was just so-so, I still have no clue what she was trying to say during her interview, and her talent....she only learned that for a few hours before MCI started, and she called that her talent. Talent is something you acquire throughout the years, not something you learn to prepare for a pageant. There's nothing wrong with it and Miss Universe 2001 Denise Quinones did the same thing, she took singing lessons after she won Miss Puerto Rico Universe just so she could put singing as her talent.

Mandy's second place winning was quite undeserving to me, but ultimately it's a TVB production and only three MHKs were empty ended in the pageant's 16-year history, what do we expect. Miss Malaysia should have gotten at least second runner-up, she has the whole package, and her overall performance was great--interview, swimsuit, talent. In terms of looks, anyone from the top 5 could have placed easily, but to win it in a deserving way, only Linda Chung made it.

If you haven't voted yet, vote now and make a difference!

new chairs for MHK and MCI
do you guys think that TVB should make new ones for their pageants, they have been using them since 1992. For MCI, did anyone notice the green big cushion shifted to the right since last year and they didn't care to fix it this year. There was a missing piece in the MHK chair last year, there were two different metal bars connecting one side to the other, last year there was only one, a sign that TVB is running out of money or TVB employees are being less attentive these days... I choose the latter one.

Mandy Cho bashing
What is going on in the MHK discussion forum, some people just like to bash Mandy with the usual phrases...fake this and that, attend a community college... and most of them do not even know her in person. They only see pictures of her on newpapers! For goodness sake, she went to St. Mary's, not an international school, even though she did not return to F.6, St. Mary's is one of the best girls' schools in Hong Kong.

The MHK application form does not mention that going to a community college cannot win the title... Lee San San only finished F.5 and still won at a younger age. Mandy gave a good impression and the judges like her, no matter what we say to make ourselves feel better, we cannot change the result and the new MHK will be out in August.

Personally I don't think she has a fake smile, that's how she smiles, so deal with it and stop whinning.

Updates
Lots of updates to do the past two days, particularly MCI, can't imagine if I went on vacation for a longer period. Right now I'm pretty much set.

New stuff that are out:
MCI 04 section and gallery, MCI stats are up-to-date, and so is titleholders gallery.

New picture of the month, found it as I was going thru an old HKTV magazine, probably one of the best picture of MHK 94.

Part III of Old Times Miss Hong Kong, will probably release part IV next month.

A new Mandy Cho image in the Past Titleholders section, from the overseas recruitment website. I decided to replace Shirley Yeung because her crown pictures in my files look a bit odd, either the color or maybe just her. I think this is a good choice, and Mandy looks nice in the poster and it blends well with Anita Yuen and Amy Kwok.

Redid the Hoyan Mok, Anne Heung, Winnie Young image as well.
