    Cathy Wu wins the title of Miss Friendship at Miss International Pageant 2002,
    the first award winner at major international pageants in 15 years!!

The Miss Universe Organization has fired Oxana Fedorova, and 1st runner-up Justine Pasek of
    Panama takes over the title of Miss Universe 2002. The MUO stated that Oxana failed to fulfill
    her duties as Miss Universe and refuse to travel. On the other hand, Fedorova claimed that she
    quit voluntarily and would like to focus on her studies and career in Russia.

    Cathy Wu is currently representing Hong Kong at Miss International Pageant in Japan.

    Miss World Controversy continues, more contestants are boycotting the pageant which will be held in
    Nigeria. The government of Nigeria guarantees safety for all visitors and contestants.

  Miss Hong Kong 2002 is #11 Tiffany Lam, she is an overseas contestant from San Francisco
    Lam is also the 7th overseas contestant to win the MHK crown in the past 12 years
    1st runner-up is #19 Victoria Jolly (will represent Hong Kong at Miss World in Nigeria--not confirmed)
    2nd runner-up is #15 Cathy Wu (will represent Hong Kong at Miss International in Japan/Hawaii--not confirmed)
    Miss Photogenic and the recipient of 4 other awards, Cerina Da Graca, failed to make the top 3, which is quite shocking
    The winner takes all tradition has finally been broken!
    The number (11) has won four times (the most) in the past 30 years

    TVB has changed their location shoot from Guam to Saipan, it will be a five-day trip from 7/8-7/12/02
    Louis Koo and Alex Fong will NOT be joining the contestants in Saipan
    Hacken Lee, Miriam Yeung, and Lam Hiu Fung will be hosting the semi-final

    It looks like there will be some kind of talent award presented this year....maybe Miss Talent???
    This year the 20 contestants will have a chance to demonstrate their dancing, acting, singing, and speaking abilities.
    This process is similar to what the pageant did in the semi-final in 1996 where the contestants were divided into the same
        four categories after a series of preliminary judging.
    There will be a "Natural Skin Award" this year.
